TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
Happy tattoo day! We wish you a safe and happy healing experience
If you are wearing the clear ‘derm’ bandage, please do not leave on any longer than 48 hours. The derm is breathable and waterproof but will not remain breathable for more than 2 days.
Should a bandage or tape cause stinging, burning or obvious redness, you may be allergic to the adhesive. Please remove immediately and begin the care regime below. (Peel up corners of bandage or tape. Use warm soapy water to remove)
If you have a blue or black bandage do not leave on longer than 4 hours
Always use clean hands when touching your new work of art
After the bandage is removed you can wear clothing that lightly covers it - natural fibers are best
Using a mild soap, lather with warm water and cleanse your tattoo with your fingertips for 30 seconds. Pat dry with a clean towel. Repeat each morning and night (more often if needed). Feel free to let your tattoo air out for a half hour after washings.
Apply a thin, even coating of ointment when your tattoo feels tight or dry - especially the first three or four days. Ointments or balms help protect against germs while your body heals
Reapply ointment 6 to 10 times daily as needed
Do not soak your tattoo until it is fully healed - including hot tubs, bath water, rivers lakes pools and oceans… Showering is okay!
Healing usually takes 5 to 10 days, sometimes a little longer, depending on the person and the placement of the tattoo. Give us a call or an email if you have any concerns!
Recommended ointments/balms: Polysporin double or triple anti-bacterial ointment, Vaseline (regular or the plain healing balm stick), Hustle Butter, The Cure, Redemption… there are many great choices that we carry - just ask us if you are not sure which one is the best for you!
Should you have pets, we recommend Polysporin double or triple anti-bacterial ointment for your healing process. Should you see any redness, swelling or other signs of infection please contact your doctor.
